Sheathed by the beautiful backwaters on one side and the sparkling golden beach on the other stands the Poovar Island Resort,Poovar, a paradise on earth, not yet fully cultivated many tourists. A short boat ride leads to this glorious Poovar Island facing the estuary. The Poovar Island Resort is located at a distance of 30 kms from the capital city of Trivandrum.

Accommodation at Poovar Island Resort

There are two different kinds of options for accommodation available at this island Resort. These are 'Floating Cottages', and the Superior (Land) Cottages.

The floating Cottages are stylish cottages built on the waterfront, following the ancient style of architecture in Kerala, each linked to the island via a bridge. Conventionally designed Teak wood panels & thatched grass roofs characterizes these cottages. There is a unique sense of comfort that is offered to those lucky few staying here, from the enjoyable swaying sensation of the bay. This air conditioned Floating Cottages are equipped with facilities such as Hot water, Telephone & Tea/Coffee maker. The balcony offers a breathtaking view of the estuary.

Superior (Land) Cottages are built on stilts on a moat .They have personal balconies with a hammock that gives more opportunities of unique comfort. These are air conditioned with facilities such as T.V, Hot water,& Telephone. The fashionably done rooms are built with ethnic interiors to suit today's needs.

Dining at Poovar Island Resort

There is a multi-cuisine restaurant at the Poovar Island Resort which has a formal dining room that serves exquisite food. The coffee shop here is ideal for informal chat over coffee. The restaurant offers food from Kerala, North India and Continental cuisine. You can also enjoy a Barbecue dinners by the poolside with live entertainment twice a week. The swimming pool area has a Sunken Bar, where the guests can enjoy a quick a plunge before the drink.
