Kerala Backwaters Tours

One of the unique attractions of Kerala is its intricate maze of Backwaters, a chain of canals stretching about 1500 km, with a network of 44 rivers, lagoons and lakes. Most of it is naturally formed. The canals, made for continuous traffic of men and materials, have been combined here with the Backwaters.

Day 01 - Arrive Mumbai:

Upon arrival in Mumbai, shift to the hotel where we will be holding the rooms on ready occupancy basis. Spend the night at the hotel.

Day 02 – Mumbai:

Explore the city of Mumbai, visiting the Juhu beach, Gateway of India, Elephanta caves, etc. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 03 - Arrive Trivandrum - Kovalam

Move on to the airport to catch the flight to Trivandrum. Once you arrive in Trivandrum, transfer to the hotel in Kovalam. You can enjoy the later part of the day in the sand on the beach. Pamper yourself with an herbal, body-toning massage at a nearby center of your liking. Spend the night at the hotel.

Day 04 - Kovalam - Cape Comorin – Kovalam:

After an exciting day on the Kovalam beaches, move on to Cape Camorin on the following morning. Spend the day visiting Padmanabhapuram Palace and the Archeological museum, and in the evening drive back to Kovalam. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 05 - Kovalam – Varkala:

After a hearty breakfast, proceed towards Varkala, one of the un-spoilt beach resorts in the country. You can also try out some traditional body therapy here. Spend the night at the hotel.

Day 06 - Varkala – Kumarakom:

Get into a speedboat or a luxury cruiser from Varkala, ride into the backwater country Kumarakom, and feel like being in seventh heaven.

Day 07 – Kumarakom:

Go on a boat ride into the countryside, and visit the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary. For the adventurous, there is provision for water sports such as windsailing and water skiing. You can even opt for a canoe ride on the serene lakes. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 08 - Kumarakom – Periyar:

Getting to Periyar is a majestic experience. It is a pictorial journey past mist-covered mountains, spice plantations and open grasslands adorned with mesmerizing waterfalls and enchanting trekking trails to reach Periyar. On arriving, check into the hotel, get refreshed and relax. Spend the night at the hotel.

Day 09 – Periyar:

This is the day when you might have an opportunity to meet the Tiger as we take you to Periyar Tiger Reserve. Treat your eyes watching rare birds, trees and flowers as you go for trekking with a local guide. You can also go for a walk through the plantations, filled with the stimulating aroma of fresh spice. Spot exotic wildlife in its natural habitat while on a boat safari on the Periyar Lake - like the unusual bathing habits of the wild elephants that come down to the lake. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 10 - Periyar - Kottayam - Backwater

Drive to Kottayam in the morning, from where you will board the traditionally festooned houseboats. This marks the beginning of a 2-day and 2-night water cruise which will end on the morning of Day 12 at Alleppey.

Day 12 - Allepey – Cochin:

We will pick you up from Alleppey and shift you to hotel in Cochin. Later in the afternoon, go for a city tour visiting the Jewish Synagogue, St. Francis Church, Dutch Palace, etc. Enjoy Kathakali dance recital – a traditional art form of Kerala - in the evening. Spend the night at the hotel.

Day 13 - Cochin – Calicut:

In the morning, drive to Calicut. Once you arrive, check into the hotel. Spend the afternoon touring the city covering Pazhassiraja Museum, The Art Gallery and Krishna Art Museum. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 14 - Calicut – Treehouse:

The biggest kept secret of Kerala is nestled in Vythiri - 3750ft above sea level, in the Western Ghats amidst the Wayanad Hills in North Kerala at a distance of 65 km from Calicut enroute to Ooty or Mysore. The Treehouse, perched 86 ft from the ground, can be accessed by a local cane elevator. Relax and enjoy the beautiful accommodation in Treehouse.

Day 15 – Treehouse:

Spend the day exploring the area. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 16 - Treehouse – Ooty:

Drive to Ooty in the morning. Upon arrival, check into the hotel and spend the night there.

Day 17 – Ooty:

It is a free day for you to explore the surroundings. Enjoy! Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 18 - Ooty – Mysore:

In the morning, drive to Mysore. Once there, check into the hotel. Look around the city in the afternoon. Spend the night at the hotel.

Day 19 - Mysore – Bangalore:

Tour the city once more in the morning. Later, drive to Bangalore. On arrival, check into the hotel. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 20 - Bangalore - Mumbai – Departure:

In the morning, explore the Garden City of Bangalore, from where we will escort you to catch the flight to Mumbai. Arriving there you will be taken to hotel where we will be holding a few rooms for you to get refreshed. Relish a delectable dinner here and be transferred to the airport to catch your International flight.
